Insidious: The Red Door concludes the Insidious franchise by focusing on the Lambert family’s final chapter. Josh and Dalton Lambert, plagued by their forgotten memories, must confront their past and find a way to move forward. Despite offering a decent watch with some jump scares, the film’s execution is messy, failing to fully explore the characters and their journeys. Patrick Wilson’s directorial debut holds the film together, but the script does not do him any favors. While the horror moments do provide occasional jumps, the overall experience remains relatively mild. Simpkins and Wilson deliver solid performances, but their characters lack depth. The ending feels rushed and unsatisfying, leaving the film with untapped potential. Insidious: The Red Door serves as an adequate ending for the franchise, but it could have been so much more.
