“Cobweb,” directed by Samuel Bodin, takes audiences on a chilling journey with young Peter, who encounters mysterious bumps in the night and a haunting voice trapped within his bedroom wall. Despite the initial fear, Peter finds solace in the enigmatic voice, unaware of its sinister intentions. While Philip Lozano’s cinematography sets a creepy tone, the film falls short of becoming a truly terrifying horror experience. Jump scares lack the desired impact, and the plot twists are easily foreseen. Several intriguing subplots, including a missing trick-or-treater and bullies targeting Peter, are introduced but left underdeveloped and unresolved. The cast, particularly Woody Norman’s portrayal of Peter, delivers commendable performances, but “Cobweb” ultimately struggles to deliver a genuinely gripping and haunting horror tale.
