“The Mother,” starring Jennifer Lopez, fails to live up to its potential as an action thriller. Despite a solid revenge premise and a committed performance by Lopez, the film lacks originality and fails to establish a connection between viewers and its characters. The minimal character development leaves the story feeling weightless and low in stakes. The poorly lit scenes and rough editing further detract from the overall experience. Even the action sequences, although featuring impressive physical work, suffer from poor execution and excessive quick cuts. However, Lopez’s dedicated performance and a solid supporting cast bring some redeeming qualities to an otherwise forgettable film.
